Why did they stop making the old Renault Clio? They rebadged it as a Vavavoom when the new one came out and everyone was happy. Including Renault sales people.
Well one of the reasons was to make way for their inferior Dacia. I’m talking about the Sandero. No ABS, no airbags, and a worse performing engine.
I’m currently driving an old Clio and besides the rear legroom issues if a tall person is sitting in front, it’s one of the best small cars ever made. Good drive and handling, great on safety and very well built.
Now Renault have the Sandero. An inferior car, but its bigger.
But perhaps there is method in their madness. The Twingo isn’t selling well here because there are lower spec’ed, bigger cars out there for the same price. South Africans want quantity not quality.
I would be interested to hear from Renault regarding their sales stats to hear if they rival the fantastic old Clio in any way.
